John E. Barnett,
Jr.
Mr. Barnett earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1968. He began his engineering
career at Blakely-Ward-Stuckey & Associates where he became a
vice-president and chief electrical engineer. In 1980, he started his own
firm, and is currently president of Barnett Consulting Engineers, Inc.
His extensive and broad experience includes many types
of projects; power systems, telecommunications facilities, data centers,
UPS, generators, research laboratories, schools and office buildings. Mr.
Barnett is recognized as an industry leader in the design and analysis of
complex power systems, and regularly provides ongoing specialized
consulting to distribution equipment manufacturers, UPS and generator
control system manufacturers, electrical contractors, facility owners and
other engineering firms.
As lead design engineer for more than 30 years, Mr.
Barnett engineered many critical projects for clients such as AT&T,
GTE, NASA, Wachovia, Travelers, and IBM.
As the principal engineer at BCE, he is an active and
involved participant in each design project completed by the firm. He is
an active supporter of sustainable design concepts.
Mr. Barnett served on the State of Georgia Electrical
Code Committee in 1999, to review, amend and adopt the NEC for use in the
State of Georgia.
He is a
registered Professional Engineer in 11 states and affiliated with the
